I reviewed ‘College Baseball’ (@universityofbaseball) on Instagram and dissected its strategies and ways of promoting via Instagram. The social media content over the past three months have covered the top college teams in the nation and the players who are excelling in the programs. It also includes game times, rankings, potential draft picks, and tags players who are ‘Instagram famous’ to gain them more follwers and helping their reputation. This is similar to my project regarding USTA because it is a baseball organization rather than a tennis organization, and it gives consistent updates about a diverse group of players, as well as reports scores and lets followers know about match times. Some of the strategies the College Baseball page uses are the use for colors in their pictures. Each picture they post has great quality, and it can be assumed that professional cameras are used to capture these scenes. This captures the eye and has people scrolling through the page in awe. Other strategies include featuring many different college teams to broaden their audience so each college baseball team can be featured not just the top ones. They also tag the players so the players benefit from the post as well. The response that comes from the audience is positive feedback, and each college baseball fan follows this page to be up to date with what is going on in the college baseball world. The overall tone of the posts is informative and sophisticated, because it only features pictures of people who look determined, and are all about the game. There is a positive tone of the whole page because it is well put together and consistent with the quality and clarity. It also has an authoritative tone because of the massive amount of likes and followers the page has, especially when compared to other baseball pages.
